Yuxiao Chen
Yuxiao is an acoustic consultant in the Sydney office. She completed a Bachelor of Architecture from Tsinghua University, China, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Architectural Science) from the University of Sydney with the Commonwealth Research Training Program Scholarship. Her Ph.D. thesis focused on the subjective audiovisual preference in music auditoria using the method of virtual reality.
She joined Marshall Day Acoustics as a student intern in 2017 and became a full-time consultant in 2022. During this time, Yuxiao has been involved in various room acoustics, research and development, environmental noise control, and building noise control projects.
Her background in architectural design has developed her specialisation in 3D room acoustics design and auralisation in Odeon, computational design and software development in Grasshopper and Rhino 3D, and audiovisual virtual reality design and development. She is the main author of the Sightlines program and a number of internal software programs.
