Laurel Smith
Laurel Smith is an Acoustician with the Auckland office, specialising in environmental noise control. She joined Marshall Day Acoustics in 2002 after completing a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Auckland and an initial career in manufacturing and heavy industry.
Since 2004, Laurel has focused on environmental noise control for airports while maintaining an interest in other aspects of environmental and building acoustics. The airport work that Laurel undertakes includes airport noise modelling, measurement of aircraft noise, assessment of noise effects, implementation of planning provisions, sound insulation design and ongoing noise management work.
Laurel has given evidence as an expert witness at numerous Council Hearings and in the Environment Court.
