Alex Stoker
Alex Stoker is an Associate with the Sydney office specialising in environmental noise monitoring, DA applications and local environmental planning assessments. He joined Marshall Day following 4 years working in the offshore geophysical industry as a seismic engineer. He graduated from the BSc Acoustics discipline at the University of Salford, UK in 2009, during which time he worked with a UK based acoustic consulting firm on large scale projects such as BBC Media City, Manchester Civil Justice Courts and Almaty Tower.
Alex has worked on high capacity seismic survey vessels throughout the globe as a seismic field engineer. This involved work in underwater sound propagation, acoustic source quality, control systems engineering and digital signal processing.
Working primarily in environmental noise monitoring, DA applications and local environmental planning assessments, Alex has recently completed a comprehensive audit and assessment of the Sydney International Container Terminal to allow for compliance with EPA licence conditions. This included measurement and assessment of on-site freight rail activities. Further to this, his recent project work for TfNSW Freight Rail division involved the measurement and analysis of train movements in residential areas allowing the attenuation effects of distance, height below top of rail and shielding from buildings to be derived.
He has worked in high-risk environments both offshore and on land and is skilled in risk assessment and mitigation.
