The new extension to the Wellington Airport, dubbed 'The Rock' because of its shape and copper plating, opened in October 2010.
The extension has more than doubled the space in the departure lounge and allows the airport to process 1000 international passengers per hour.
The Brief
The design is by Studio Pacific Architecture in association with Warren and Mahoney and is inspired by the surrounding environment. Marshall Day Acoustics was involved in the design of room acoustics, aircraft noise insulation and noise control of mechanical services.
