Zefira, a 49.7 metre (163ft) luxury aluminium yacht designed by Dubois Naval Architects and built by Fitzroy Yachts, was commissioned with stringent noise level requirements. It has a 56 metre ‘light weight’ carbon fibre sailing rig which was supplied by Southern Spars, and the sails provided by North Sails.
Zefira a remporté le prix Sailing Yacht of the Year Award lors des World Superyacht Awards 2011. Le propriétaire de Zefira reçu le prix du meilleur équipage awards for best crew and service areas and best exterior design and styling. Zefira a également remporté l'innovation award lors des 2011 Nautical Design Awards.
Our Brief
We reviewed every aspect of sound and vibration generation and its path through the structure, including the propeller, engine and generator noise and vibration, wave impact, and cabin-to-cabin sound transfer. We provided cost savings where proprietary products were replaced with more effective noise control solutions.
The result of our specification and the diligent work of the Fitzroy Yachts' craftsmen is a very quiet yacht, exceeding the strict noise level limits.
Challenges
"The jury appreciated the concept of the design and construction: a yacht of large dimensions has been created, without a need to forcefully create a flybridge area for the wheelhouse. This measure, without detracting from the functionality, has resulted in very sleek lines that, together with the elegance and the high level of finish, determine the perception of the product’s excellence."
