Positioned on the banks of the Brisbane River, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre has an enviable reputation as one of Australia's best entertainment facilities. After 24 years of successful operation, the Lyric Theatre and Concert Hall underwent a $34.7 million refurbishment project and re-opened in 2009 with significantly improved universal access, acoustics and technical operations.
Our Role
Marshall Day Acoustics provided expertise in tuning the Concert Hall room acoustics through the specification of acoustic friendly audience seats and the installation of absorption and diffusion treatments on the rear wall of the auditorium, resulting in the elimination of unwanted reflections.
Marshall Day Entertech, our theatre design team was also engage on the projct. They we worked closely with Cox Rayner Architects and Planners to improve universal access for patrons and staff throughout the facility, resulting in significant improvements to universal access and operations to front of house areas, foyer facilities such as box office, cloakroom, as well as food and drink outlets.
Both auditoriums underwent a complete redesign of seating configuration resulting in increased capacity, more wheelchair positions and new audience seating throughout.
