Auckland's Spark Arena is a multi-purpose, technically sophisticated facility that caters for large and small events. It seats up to 12,000 for events ranging from international netball and basketball to family shows including ice events, opera, rock concerts, business events and exhibitions.
Our Brief
Marshall Day Acoustics was involved in all aspects of room acoustics, sound insulation and noise control for mechanical services.
Internal acoustic treatment ensures that a wide range of events can occur in the bowl whilst still maintaining a good acoustic environment for the audience.
Challenges
The sound insulation design was particularly challenging with apartments located 60 metres from the Arena. The solution involved an innovative 'cassette/panel system' that could be assembled on the ground and craned into place to form the building envelope and internal treatment.
