In collaboration with Beca, Autex Industries Limited, Oroqi Ltd and local hapū Puketapu, this project saw the transformation of New Plymouth Airport terminal into a stylish modern gateway to the Taranaki region in New Zealand’s North Island.
Due to the size, shape, along with high pitched ceilings and panoramic glazing, the new terminal presented substantial acoustic design challenges. Marshall Day Acoustics recommended the use of multiple acoustic treatments to meet both the aesthetic vision of the architects as well as the desired Reverberation Time (RT).
The terminal was opened with a blessing ceremony by Te Ātiawa and mana whenua Puketapu at sunrise on the 13th March 2020.
