Hearing House is a charitable trust specialising in hearing therapy and cochlear implants for children.
In 2016 we shared the news that construction had begun on their new $8m facility for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired in Auckland. Marshall Day Acoustics was engaged as acoustic designer on the project, and our services were offered with a healthy pro bono counterpart, to support the charitable trust.
Now complete, Christopher Day and James Whitlock were proud to represent Marshall Day Acoustics at the opening ceremony of the Stichbury Bidwill Centre, where we were thanked for our contribution with a place on the honours board. The opening was attended by around a hundred people, including Lance Cairns (cricketing legend and cochlear implant user), Alison Winstanley (inspirational young leader and cochlear implant user), and Hon. Julie Anne Genter (Associate Minister of Health).
The new facility includes a two-level clinic with four large audiology rooms (that have floating concrete floors), therapy and consultation rooms, open-plan office, meeting rooms and reception, and a day-care centre for hearing impaired children. The development will be able to provide much-needed facilities for the charity, which serves more than 800 deaf children and adults with cochlear implants and hearing aids.
